A lot of police departments use the funds siezed from drug traffickers to enhance their budgets. It is NOT against the law, nor is it criminal behavior. MOST departments/task forces have a limit that they are able to keep but I do not know if a local sheriff’s department is bound by those guidelines. I realize the comment from Monster was inflammatory and stupid, but police departments DO keep siezed money. It is usually funnelled into their budgets in the fight against drugs but it is not mandated that the money be used for such.
Unfortunately, these comments are a non-issue. So let’s keep looking.
